Government Plaza (Almon Avenue)
The City of Tuscaloosa’s Holidays on the Plaza, in partnership with Coca-Cola, transforms Government Plaza into a winter wonderland! This family-friendly event features an outdoor ice-skating rink, visits from Santa and merry community events. Alongside the rink, visitors can stroll through the dazzling Tinsel Trail, a holiday tradition that supports Tuscaloosa’s One Place.
Holidays on the Plaza is the perfect destination for unforgettable holiday celebrations! Whether you’re planning a corporate holiday party, family reunion, birthday celebration, school outing, church gathering or festive get-together with friends. Our private party tent, ice rink rentals and discounted group skate rates make hosting easy, fun and memorable.
Skate passes can be purchased on site at Holidays on the Plaza. Passes include admission to the rink for the full day and ice skate rental.
Each skate pass includes admission to the rink for the hours scheduled for that particular day. You are welcome to leave and come back as long as you keep your wristband on. (link schedule)

The rink will remain open in light to moderate rain, but may close in heavy sustained rain at the management’s discretion. Please check our website or Facebook page for updates on weather closings.
If the ice rink is closed by management for any reason, management will review the opportunity for an alternate session ticket to be issued.
Free parking is available in the parking deck located at 2230 7th St.
Anyone who is able may skate. Adult supervision is required. All activities are at your own risk – please use caution.
To purchase group skate tickets, reserve the private party tent or rink rental using the Event Request Form. Any questions can be directed to icerinkinfo@tuscaloosa.com.

The Party Tent is available to rent anytime during regular operating hours. If you’re interested in renting the entire rink outside of operating hours, please inquire about a private rink rental.
Rink hours can be found by date on the Holidays on the Plaza 2026-2027 Schedule.
Parties must be scheduled at least 14 days in advance. A non-refundable $50 deposit is due at the time of booking. The remainder of the balance is due within 7 days before the event. Upon cancellation, you can pick another available date.
*Party Tent rentals do not include private use of ice rink or include an attendant.
