The City of Tuscaloosa’s Holidays on the Plaza, in partnership with Coca-Cola, transforms Government Plaza into a winter wonderland of festive fun! This family-friendly event features an outdoor skating rink, visits from Santa and merry community events. Alongside the rink, visitors can stroll through the dazzling Tinsel Trail, a holiday tradition that supports Tuscaloosa’s One Place.

Whether you’re planning a corporate holiday party, family reunion, birthday celebration, school outing, church gathering or festive get-together with friends. Our private party tent, ice rink rentals and discounted group skate rates make hosting easy, fun and memorable.

Holidays on the Plaza Private Parties and Group Skate Rates

To purchase group skate tickets, reserve the private party tent or rink rental using the Event Request Form. Any questions can be directed to icerinkinfo@tuscaloosa.com.

  • Festive 20×30 holiday-decorated party tent
  • Seating for up to 48 guests
  • six eight-foot tables with eight chairs each
  • two additional tables for food, gifts or displays

1 hour minimum | 3 hour maximum

  • $100 per hour
  • $50 per half hour
  • Discounted Skate Passes: $12 each (with tent rental)
    • Skate passes are valid all day on the date of your party during operational hours.
  • Black Linens: $10 each
  • Room Reset: $50 fee
    • If you do not wish to use the preset floor plan, any request to remove, add or redesign the room setup will incur this fee. It covers the additional time required to adjust the layout for your event and return the room to its original setup afterward.

The Party Tent is available to rent anytime during regular operating hours. If you’re interested in renting the entire rink outside of operating hours, please inquire about a private rink rental.

Rink hours can be found by date on the Holidays on the Plaza 2026-2027 Schedule.

Parties must be scheduled at least 14 days in advance. A non-refundable $50 deposit is due at the time of booking. The remainder of the balance is due within 7 days before the event. Upon cancellation, you can pick another available date.

*Party Tent rentals do not include private use of ice rink or include an attendant.

  • Private use of the ice rink and 20×30 party tent.
  • Starting at $2,500 for two hours. (Additional hours available for $1,000 per hour)
  • Only scheduled outside of normal operation hours.
  • Admittance for up to 500 guests, but only 100 on the ice at any given time.
  • Includes event manager and event staff.

Parties must be scheduled at least 14 days in advance. A non-refundable $100 deposit is due at the time of booking. The remainder of the balance is due within 7 days before the event. Renter must obtain a certificate of insurance for private rink rentals.

  • Large Group Skate Pass Rates
  • 25 Single Day Skate Passes: $300
  • 50 Single Day Skate Passes: $600
  • 100 Single Day Skate Passes: $1,200
  • Must be reserved at least 48 hours in advance – does not include private ice rink rental. Groups of 50+ who plan to come at once, must coordinate with Special Events.
